Located in the Sonoran Desert, Fountain Hills, Arizona www.fh.az.gov is surrounded by the beauty of mountain ranges and carved out of many natural washes. As the sun sets it creates a magnificent painting of the layers of the mountains and reminds the small community of the great lifestyle we live in.
There is no shortage of world-class golf courses in Fountain Hills such as SunRidge Canyon, We-Ko-Pa, and Eagle Mountain to name a few. Desert golf is unique to the visitor as it’s commonly referred to as “Target Golf” which allows for breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. Fountain Hills offers a nice mix of restaurants from fine dining to sports bars, major art shows, art galleries, and an abundance of outdoor recreation. Saguaro Lake is located just 20 minutes away and has 22 miles of shoreline.
The world famous “Fountain” is the community’s focal point. The Fountain turns on at the top of the hour for 15 minutes from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Its water source is the 30-acre Fountain Lake located in the 42-acre Fountain Park. The Fountain’s pressure comes from 3 turbine pumps that can send the water plum 560 feet high, but normally 2 pumps are used which still creates a water plum 330 feet high. Fountain Park is a metro-Phoenix destination spot that attracts thousands of visitors each year for events such as The Great Fair, The Fountain Festival of Arts & Crafts, amphitheatre, disc (Frisbee) golf, a one-mile paved concrete walk path, a hiking trail (Lake Overlook Trail), a children’s playground and Splash Park.

The Verdes is made up of two communities called Rio Verde www.rioverdecc.com and Tonto Verde www.tontoverde.org and are located near the Verde River and adjacent to the Tonto National Forest. Each community has 36 holes of golf and their location provides a gateway to the McDowell Mountain Regional Park for hiking and biking. The Verdes are just a short drive north of Fountain Hills and have similar breathtaking views in all directions. These communities are adult retirement which means one member of each household must be at least 55 years of age and no person under 19 can be a permanent resident.
